Many love affairs start off in the bedroom; whether it’s Madonna, Britney, Justin or KISS adorning our walls, those early years in the dark depths of our teenage privacy can be some of the most important and formative. That was certainly the case for Dutchman Ardie van Beek, or Funkerman as he’s now known around the world.

But it wasn’t plastic pop bunnies that enamored a young Ardie – instead it was the sounds of Public Enemy, Eric B and Rakim and other heroes of the US hip-hop explosion that inspired him to take on the turntables and begin what was to be a journey into the very soul of funk. Religiously crate-digging through the annals of r’n’b and soul, he followed the samples back to the original disco and rare groove tracks, unearthing a whole history of dance music in the process. For the 13-year-old Funkerman it was as if someone had opened a musical treasure chest for him to play with.

Ironically, the free and easy days of early hip-hop disappeared, with Funkerman feeling creatively hemmed in by the rules and regulations that seemed to spring up around the sound.

So it was that, in the early 90s, while spinning at Spock in Breda, the beats of Todd Terry, Derrick May, and Lil Louis gradually worked their magic on the Dutchman. It was house music, and Funkerman was hooked. Hooked swiftly turned to obsessed, as is the case in all true music success stories. Hobby became profession, a job in a record store introducing him to a wealth of new tracks and some of the people he would later collaborate and indeed go into business with. Hours spent not just listening to music but to other house fans raving on about tunes, he quickly began to understand the dimensions of what made one house anthem work and another disappear into the bargain section. Production was well and truly calling Funkerman.

With the job at the record store progressing through to A&R, he finally began to pull all the threads of those formative years together. Learning the ins and outs of the business, he teamed up with friend Raf and fellow Dutch DJ/producer Fedde le Grand to create Flamingo Recordings, a house and electronic-tech label that is currently one of the hottest imprints in the world.

Over the past 4 years Funkerman and Flamingo Recordings have been behind such hits as Put Your Hands Up For Detroit, The Creeps, Speed Up and 3 Minutes To Explain. Not only that but as far as DJ diaries go, Funkerman’s is fit to bursting point. Having just completed a North American and Australian tour with label partner Fedde Le Grand, 2009 begins with his outstanding new release,  ‘Remember’ featuring I-Fan, dominating the download charts accompanied by a somewhat beautiful but sinister video by acclaimed Dutch artists Rutger Termohlen, Michiel Sturm, Sander Brouwer and Collin van der Sluijs. Funkerman pushes beyond the boundaries of house music with ‘Remember ’and firmly stamps his sound all over 2009.

With his own Flamingo Nights series of parties becoming an international benchmark for high-class production and world caliber guest mixes, a label so on form it’s mind blowing, and a fast-growing reputation as the man to front up any dance floor, Funkerman’s 2009 is set to hit the big red warp factor button – we suggest you hold on!

Despite the fact that Tiddey begun his carreer in 2002 he was interested in music before. During his studies in music school in Poznan he thought that he would play guitar. Darek Plaza was born on the 24th of march 1979. He had an opportunity to try creating music on a mixer for the first time in 2002. By this time he knew that music must be his way of life. Thanks to his first experiences in clubs in Poznan he became one of the most cognoscible and popular DJ’s in Poland. It was sure that Darek won’t be another club resident, but within next few years he will become a high-profile Polish DJ with his own identity and unique style. In 2003 together with his friends he created MDT agency, which organizes best Polish events, eg.: Sunrise Festival, Independence or EnTrance. In 2006 he decided to develop his own DJ’s and music producer’s career and. He quit the MDT agency.

During his stays in Brasil, Australia, South Africa, Japan, Norway, Turkey, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium and even China with his energetic and thrilling sets he prompted the audience to party franticly. It is known, that the Pole will come back to these countries. What is more it is not the only occasion for Tiddley’s world tour. He also performed at the biggest Polish festivals such as the Sunrise Festival in 2004, 2005 and 2006 where there were 20 000 people, Beach Party Sopot 2004/2007 where there were 30 000 people or Creamfields 2007, Global Gathering 2008, Tunnel Electrocity 2008, Nature One Germany, Stadium of Sound with Tiesto

All of Tiddey’s successes in Poland led to one thing. He was noticed by the ID&T agency, which made it’s final decision concerning their main music event – Trance Energy. Tiddey participated in this event in February 2006. His performance was accompanied by a premiere of his new single entitled “Close Day…” Tiddley’s achievements paid back in 2006 when he was chosen the best 2006 DJ in Poland. Altogether 2006 ends and he is the best Polish DJ and also first Pole to be on the 144th place in DJ MAG POLL 2006 rank.

In December 2007 his latest single “Taylla” has been noticed by Armin van Buuren, who played this composition in his radio show A State of Trance.

On the 29th of October 2008 he gets to the 81th place in the most prestigious DJ’s rank in the world – DJ MAG POLL. He is the first Pole to achieve this. All of this successes makes Tiddey an unquestioned No. 1 in Polish club scene since 2006.

In December 2008 Tiddey manages to published his first album “Life Goes On…” where there are only his compositions. Released by Sony Music / ProLogic Music Poland.

Dutch DJ/producer JOOP has already cemented his place at the top level of international trance. The man whose tough, progressive tech-trance style has set dance floors on fire the world over is now proving to be a titan in the studio as much as behind the decks. The Netherlands, then Europe, now the States, Asia and Australia have all fallen under his spell – and when you hear his tracks or see him play, it comes as no surprise.

Since the tender age of 13, dance music has been an all-consuming passion for JOOP. Progressing from a residency in his hometown to some of the biggest venues and festivals in the world, his sound pushes the boundaries, leaving audiences in awe. His production work is in constant demand, with the biggest names permanently featuring him at the front of their CD wallets.

It was his first four tracks that bought him to global attention. ‘Act Of God’, ‘The World/Another World’ and ‘Sonsuz’ instantly established him as a producer of great skill and were hammered by the great and the good. As with any talent, everybody wanted a piece, and remixes soon followed for the likes of Leon Bolier (Lyra), Splitscreen (Boomblasta), Activa (Genetic) and Love Never Dies (Moonbeam v.s. Tyler Michaud feat. Fisher). With backing from one of the most highly respected and credible imprints in The Netherlands, High Contrast, JOOP is, with no exaggeration, the name on everybody’s lips.

JOOP @ Trance Energy 2009

In 2002 he was chosen to mix the prestigious Trance Energy compilation, one of the most awesome festivals in his homeland and indeed the world, it was to be the start of a beautiful relationship. Playing for Trance Energy, as well as other iconic events such as Mysteryland, Sensation, Innercity to name but a few, the JOOP sound began to spread. When the organisers of Trance Energy handpicked his epic track ‘The Future” as their official anthem for 2007, it was the stamp of approval that many feel had been long overdue. Performing ‘The Future’ live on the main stage as the centrepiece of the night, it was clear for all to see – JOOP had arrived. After the great success of ‘The Future’ High Contrast Recordings (the label where JOOP is signed) asked him to mix the ‘High Contrast…presents…’ album. Again JOOP showed his skills as a musical talent, which is not only producing and doing a set at the most prestigious events of the world, but also having the profession to mix a double-CD album containing the best trance tracks at that moment.

But this is by no means a man content to sit on his laurels. His remix for Santiago Nino, ‘Spark/Re-Charge’ was picked up by DJ Preach’s Relic Recordings and made some major waves and his tracks ‘Hold On’ and ‘3008’ received support from A-lists artists.

With his diary bulging and his studio a sensation, JOOP is proving himself an artist who grabs hold of every opportunity that crosses his path. This is trance at its finest – this is JOOP!

There´s no doubt that Micha Moor is one of Germanys rising shotingstarts. His final breakthrough was the consequence of living a musician life since he was a kid. Ever since Micha Moor experimented with music while learning how to play many instruments in several music groups with several music styles. Over the years he discovered producing electronic dance-music and started to gather his first experience with DJing.

Quickly adapting to his audience he always finds the perfect mix of electronic sounds and house music. With miscellaneous loops and acappellas he often spontaneously creates new remixes of well-known pieces while performing live as a DJ. After various resident DJ jobs he now spins the wheels at different renowned German and international clubs mesmerizing the crowds with his mixing-skills.

His first hit »Slip & Slide« was released in February 2006 by Scream & Shout Rec. It quickly found its place on the playlists of recognized DJ´, entered the German dance charts and continued to stay on for several weeks. For some time now Micha Moor has been producing and remixing electronic house-tunes in cooperation with his studio-partner Klaas. Since their latest remix of the legendary Dr. Kucho hit »Can´t stop playing« they have undeniably become popular with the German house scene. Further remixes of Jens Lissat´s »Young and beautiful« and of Dualton »Papercut« followed …

His second single »Music is dope«, which reflects his motto at Scream and Shout Rec., was released April this year. It again entered the German charts to remain on for over nine weeks now. His brand new summersingle »Space« has potential to top all of his previously released hits. The promo-track has been played as

part of the Sets of many well-known DJs in Ibiza for several weeks now… Together with his partner Deniz Koyu he added a huge electro remix for his own single. Some Nr.1 chart-positions in download-stores like Beatport, Trackitdown and the well-known DJ MAG conclude a great future.

Bryan Kearney began DJing in the year 2000 and in this time has established himself firmly on the dance scene in Ireland. His sets contain the very best in upfront trance and techno with the emphasis always on energy and the unexpected.

He was a permanent fixture on the airwaves of Dublin throughout 2002 and 2003 with prime time shows on Energy Fm and Kiss Fm providing the capital with the very best in brand new material each week. In 2003, Bryan began his own night Tranceformation in the Crypt at the legendary Temple Theatre. Each of the three nights was a full house which in turn led to him warming up for the likes of MIKE and Lisa Lashes on the main stage.

At the same time, he had began to get into producing and obtained a Higher National Diploma in Sound Operations and Music Technology. His collaboration with John O’Callaghan entitled Restricted Motion was signed to Discover Records by label boss John Askew. Askew was so impressed with the track that he decided to designate himself for remix duties. The track has become a cult classic and one of Bryan and John’s proudest moments.

In 2005, he completed a remix of one of his all time favourite tracks, the massive Lost Emotions by Fire & Ice. The track has become bigger than first thought possible with the remix been signed for full release by the legendary Bonzai Records. Bryan is the first Irish producer to have a production signed to Bonzai. The remix was featured on Matt Hardwick’s Essential Mix and was the midnight track at UK superclub Passion on NYE. The track is set for full release in May on sub label Banshee Works.

His track with O’Callaghan, Exactly, singed to Discover Records was regarded by many as the track of the Winter Music Conferance 06, and became a firm favourite of Armin Van Buuren and Paul Van Dyk. It was remixed by one of his idols, Giuseppe Ottaviani of NU-NRG, and was requested for no less than fifteen album compilations.It is one of the strongest trance packages to be released this year. The track is considered by many to be one of the best tunes of the year and one of the biggest trance anthems of Ibiza 2006.

2006 continued to be a massive year as he had two more edits rekeased. His edit’s of Melly – Arrival and Sean Tyas – Lift were released on GRH and Discover Records, both tracks being particular favourites of Eddie Halliwell. Towards the end of the year he developed his sound which culminated in his debut track ‘More To Life’ which was snapped up for release on Discover Dark in 2007. The track is a firm favourite of label boss John Askew and will be feature on the forthcoming ‘Live As’ recorded by John O’Callaghan & Greg Downey.

2007 was Bryan’s biggest year to date with his solo tracks and remixes well received right across the trance spectrum. His debut solo e.p containing More To Life and Punchline had massive success with More To Life becoming the biggest selling download ever on Discover Records. His seminal remix of Tony De Vit’s classic The Dawn was also snapped up for full release on Tidy Trax and further cemented his status on the scene.Back in the clubs and Bryan’s ever growing popularity continued to increase with numerous Irish residencies, appearances at The Gallery, Ministry of Sound and also in Ibiza for the Goodgreef Boat Party..

2008 continued on from where it left off with Bryan receiving two nominations at the Irish Dance Music Awards – Best DJ & Best New Artist. His full on tech workout of J.O.C’s Rotterdam was a huge success on Sander Van Doorn’s brand new label. Other releases releases included his tech house monster ‘ The Walrus ‘ on Full Tilt Recordings, a track that received support right across the board of dance music. Bryan’s biggest track of the year was a track which was dedicated to his friend Barry Connell who unfortunately passed away in April of that year. ‘You Will Never Be Forgotten’ was released on Discover Records and was a fitting tribute to Barry. On the djing end of things, 2008 can be considered to be Bryan’s best year to date with gigs on a weekly basis throughout Ireland and the UK and also further afield in Poland and Australia. Performances for Goodgreef, Inside Out & Planet Love were followed up by playing at two of the biggest festivals in the world. The Sunrise Festival in Poland was Bryan’s finest hour to date with his set being voted as second best set of the entire festival ahead of the likes of Tiesto, James Zabiela and many more. Bryan also featured at the world’s leading dance event Sensation White in Melbourne, Australia on New Years Eve, a night and experience he will never forget..

2009 will see him taking his performances and production to the next level. He was voted runner up in the Best Producer category at the Irish Dance Music Awards, second only to John O’Callaghan. This year will see Bryan’s production output increase significantly with projects ranging from trance, techno, tech house and electro house under a vareity of different guises. There are plenty of solo projects in the pipeline along with a number of very interesting collaborations. It will also see him playing all across the world with gigs in America, Asia, Argentina, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, UK and of course in his home country of Ireland all lined up..
